Your information is considered and treated as private and confidential. All information gathered is part of the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of your condition. We keep all necessary information on file to document what happens during sessions so that your Psychologist can provide an efficient and ethical psychological service. There are some exceptions to this confidentiality however, around issues such as reported risk to yourself, reported risk to others, child safety issues and legal privilege (i.e., if a file is subpoenaed for any legal issues). Your psychologist will discuss these exceptions with you at the outset of therapy so that you are clear about the limitations to confidentiality. Outside of these few issues however, your confidentiality is always fully maintained.
As Associate Members and/or Members of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), our psychologists abide by our professional body’s Ethical Code and professional standards. We are all fully registered with the Psychologists Registration Board of Queensland. We have all attained a Masters Degree or higher in Clinical Psychology and/or have attained at least 10 years professional clinical experience. We are all committed to and are engaged in ongoing professional development and peer supervision as a means of maintaining our professional standards.
